Welcome to NCP YOUNG ADULT GULF TRIP.
Dear Young Adults of National Capital Presbytery,
We are very glad you are interested in the Young Adult trip to the Gulf for service. We will go to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Site in New Orleans, LA - Olive Tree from Oct. 11 - 17th.
Please set your dates and plan to attend. We hope to take a minimum of 20 from our Presbytery. FIRST COME FIRST to SERVE. Please let us know if you are interested and have questions. With encouraging underwriting from a Young Adult grant to NCP for Young Adults the cost to you will only between $200 and $300. We will have an organizational meeting on July 12 at 2:00 at the Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church. Call or email me as you have questions and if you are interested in attending.

Presbyterian Volunteer Villages
OLIVE TREE INFORMATION
Location: Olive Tree is working in partnership with the Presbytery of South Louisiana to help in the rebuilding in New Orleans, where the needs are immense. This village opened October 1, 2007, in the former Eastminster Presbyterian Church in east New Orleans, about 30 minutes from downtown and the French Quarter. We are about a two miles south of Lake Ponchatrain and just north of the Lower Ninth Ward and St. Bernard's Parish, two of the most devastated areas in New Orleans.
Needs as of January 2009: There is need for volunteers with skills in framing, hanging doors, and installing windows, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, hard siding, and roofing. Sometimes your local Lowe's or Home Depot might offer training sessions for large groups in some of these skills.
Additional Information: At Olive Tree we'll provide you with comfortable accommodations, good food, hot showers and good fellowship. If you have a guitar or another transportable instrument, bring it. We have a piano, and maybe we can have an evening jam session.
